Sustainable Development

Maped, worldwide designer and manufacturer of school and office articles, embraces Sustainable Development values with enthusiasm.

The company is conscious of its impact on the planet and its responsibility towards future generations and firmly intends to achieve objectives that reflect its values. These values are embodied in long term action plans which aim to reconcile at best:

•    Environmental issues
•    Social issues
•    Economics

The whole company is involved in this group project and all work abreast towards this shared objective.

OUR ISO14001 APPROACH

OUR OBJECTIVE: TO BECOME A MODEL COMPANY WORLWIDE IN TERMS OF ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

Limiting our stock of raw materials, energy consumption, air and water pollution are aspects that impact our way of life, our health and our future. With this in mind, Maped has decided to launch a plan to better manage our environmental footprint.

To prove our actions, we have decided to obtain the international certification: ISO14001. This reference, audited by an independant external party, ensures that Maped truly is decreasing its environmental impact on the Planet

Our French sites in Pringy and Allonzier were the first to obtain certification. Thanks to this experience, we are now in the process of obtaining the ISO14001 certification in all of our production sites.

ECO-DESIGN: MINIMISE IMPACT AT EACH STAGE OF THE PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE

OUR OBJECTIVE: LIMIT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AT EACH PHASE OF THE PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE

We account for the environmental impact of our products right from the design stage using various knowledge and “eco-design” tools.

• Simplified analysis of product life cycle
• Determining environmental impact
• Choosing eco-strategic solutions
• Introducing a recycled material consumption indicator to our industrial plants

REACH REGULATION

OUR OBJECTIVE: HOW TO AVOID THE RISKS OF USING DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES

Maped assesses the risks of produced or imported chemical substances to more than 1 Ton per year. According to the regulation, the goal is to fully understand and monitor the environmental and sanitary risks resulting from the production and use of these substances

What will be recorded:
• PREPARATIONS: 12 substances will be registered with the European agency for chemical products between 2013 and 2020
• ARTICLES: Maped monitors changes in the list of substances for authorisation to improve the composition of its products and anticipate change
